Young European journalists in a joint workshop for new media project
Before the M100 Sanssouci Colloquium 2006 started, 35 young journalists from five different European countries met in Potsdam to start a new media project called Orangelog.eu.
“We think it’s a great chance to connect young journalists and the guests from the M100 through an extraordinary project. The youth project fits well into our program.” – said Miriam Weber who is the person responsible for M100 Coordination and Communication when she told us about the relationship between the M100 and the European Youth Press. European Youth Press is the association that created the concept of the web portal Orangelog.eu.
As the vice editor-in-chief of the newspaper Die Welt thinks, the M100 is an important new platform for getting new experiences in the media landscape and to look at each others journalistic work. Jona Hölderle, the General Secretary of the EYP, moderated the workshops and led the creating of the website. Michael Geffken, the Youth Press Coordinator of the M100, helped the European Youth Press organising the workshop.
For the young journalists, the event was an important opportunity to work on a major project but also to get in contact with colleagues from all over Europe – things that are among the main missions of the European Youth Press.
